Methodist College of Engineering and Technology organised the two-day techno-cultural fest ‘Metheric Utsav-2017’, which began on Friday. Dr V Bhanumurthy, Associate Director, NRSC and Dr M Kumar, Prof in Civil Engineering at Osmania University inaugurated the event.

There were about 24 technical events scheduled on the first day organised by departments like CSE, ECE, EEE, MECH, CIVIL, MBA by giving an opportunity to material and manufacturing engineers to showcase their talent. Apart from these there were also non-technical events and stalls set up by the students.

Speaking at the inauguration, Dr V Bhanumurthy suggested, “Using technology is great, but one should also make sure that they don’t turn out to be the slaves of the technology. Students who are developing projects in final year must make sure that their innovation should be helpful to the society. The aspect of any work that is chosen should be helpful to the people and that is how one should work and study.”

Dr N H Shobha Reddy, convener of the fest and HOD of ECE department said, “Though the fest is just for the two days, the actual work has begun since 45 days prior. It includes lot of hard work both from the faculty and from the students to make it out successful. I am happy how students have come up with interesting ideas for the technical day and am grateful to be part of this.”

Technical day witnessed participants from around 300 colleges, which also had a few students coming from different districts too. The second day of the fest will be full of cultural events that include college rock bands and singers Krishna Chaitanaya and Soumya at the campus to cheer the students and create an environment of joy.
