Independent filmmaker Anshul Sinha received more than 102 awards for his 42 films, which were on social issues. He also participated in Tedx Hyderabad, 2016. Recently, he won the ‘MotoSpotlight 2.0’ award for his film ‘Lafet’ in Mumbai at a national level film festival conducted by Motorola. Yesteryear actress Pooja Bhatt also invited Anshul to attend her workshop.
Anshul is now working on a film titled ‘Mitti-Back to the Roots’, on farmer’s issues in the country. His recent short film ‘Y’ has been shortlisted for the International Mobile Film Festival (MFF-2017) at San Diego, USA. Winners of this film festival will be announced on April 30, however, due to lack of funds Anshul might not attend the festival.
Speaking with 'The Hans India' he shares the ups and downs in his film career. “I started making documentary films in my college days. My first film was about a blind school, where the students had no computer facility. I did a six-minute film by exploring their problems. After watching my film, Lions Club, Hyderabad, donated about 12 computers to the school. This incident has inspired me to do more films on social issues,” Anshul said.
Even after getting 102 awards for his films, Anshul Sinha is still facing financial problems for making films. Reacting to this, he says, “I approached many production houses in the city, however, nothing happened. I am still struggling to rope in producers for my films.”
His film ‘The Chocolate Cover’, which is about the clean and green mission, has garnered 21 awards at various film festivals. The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) lauded Anshul for his film ‘Gateway to Heaven’, which is based on a true story of Rajeshwar Rao, who completed last rites of 12,000 unknown and unclaimed dead bodies. The film was also screened in England, Italy, and Venezuela.
About his new movie ‘Mitti-Back to the Roots’, he informs that this film will zoom in on the problems of farmers from close quarters. “From the past one-and-half year I’m working on my latest film ‘Mitti-Back to the Roots’. The film will discuss the agriculture crisis in India.
In this film, we will cover 25 major issues of farmers. I’m doing this film under the guidance of GV Ramanjaneyulu, an agriculture scientist. In the climax, we are also showing how farmers can overcome their problems. We have used crowd funding to make this film. We will announce the movie details soon,” Anshul shares.
“My friends Rajinish Sharma, Shravan Kumar and Babu Yadav helped me in my works. We will do more films on social issues. We are ready to take new concepts from anyone,” Anshul concludes.
