A team of employees from Dr Reddy’s Laboratories set aGuinness World Record by creating the World’s largest cardboard Mosaic to focus awareness on the need to increase the use of zinc and Oral Rehydration Salts (ORS) to treat diarrhea in children.

The enormous mosaic formed an infant’s image which depicts that every child under the age of two years should be given Zinc and ORS for the treatment of diarrhea. It was made of 1.39 lakhs of Dr Reddy’s Z and D packs, spreading across 4,200 square feet area at the Company’s Bachupally facility in Hyderabad.

Earlier in 2015, Dr Reddy’s conducted a 6-day all-India Vachan (Add life to ORS) campaign to seek support from pediatricians in prescribing the addition of zinc to ORS for the treatment of acute diarrhea in children.18,000 pediatricians pledged towards this cause by signing on the pencil boxes.

Zinc along with oral rehydration salts (ORS), helps children recover from diarrhea faster, resists the disease for longer periods and have fewer episodes per year.

However, little progress has been made to scale up access to and use of zinc and ORS, which together are the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) recommended treatment for childhood diarrhea. Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP) and Government of India have also issued guidelines for the widespread implementation of this treatment.
