Programme to raise awareness on kidney diseases tomorrow

As part of their efforts towards creating awareness about kidney diseases, Care Group of Hospitals will host a programme at Ravindra Bharathi on Thursday. The information came through a statement from the organisation on Tuesday that said, “With 10 per cent of the population worldwide having some form of kidney damage, there is a long road ahead to raise awareness about the myths of kidney disease.
Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), which is predicted to increase by 17 per cent over the next decade, is now recognised by WHO and other organisations as a global public health issue.” “Keeping in view of these CARE Group of Hospitals Urology and Nephrology doctors Initiated Pubic Health Awareness Program on Kidney Diseases “Know Your Kidneys Better”,” said the statement.
A team of doctors will address the gathering on a number of issues and challenges in tackling Chronic Kidney Disease in vulnerable populations: poor water hygiene, lack of hydration, unhealthy choice of food and beverages, language barriers, education and literacy levels, low income levels, lack of adequate health insurance, and certain culture-specific health beliefs and practices. Free Blood Pressure, Blood Sugar Check-up along with BMI will also be performed. The programme will be from 10am to 12 noon.
