With an aim to raise funds to uplift living conditions of underprivileged people of Lendiguda, Adilabad district, the student-run NGO, Street Cause organised the third edition of ‘Run for a Cause 3.0’ marathon at People’s Plaza on Sunday.

Thousands of enthusiastic people of all ages participated in the 3K Run, which began at 6am. With a lineup that included names like anchors Jhansi and Pradeep, socialites and politicos, the event began with a warm-up with Zumba, which was enjoyed by everyone present.

A number of stalls having chilled water bottles, tiffin centre, organic drinks, coffee stall etc. were set up at the venue and the footfall in these stalls only kept increasing with time.

“Street Cause is an NGO comprising of students intent on doing their bit for the betterment of society. Within seven years from its inception, it has radically grown from being a local guild of adherents, to establishing over 34 college divisions across the city with a workforce of over 5,000 volunteers,” said Alekhya Vadnala, one of the organising members.

“The crowd cheered and swayed to the songs of Prudhvi Chandra, an emerging playback singer and the gig continued with musical performances by student volunteers and flash mob by the RFC organisers. But our event had more to it, Maruti Suzuki; one of our executive sponsors launched the Gixxer 2017 edition at the platform,” she informed.

“The objective of Street Cause is to help the underprivileged, such as orphans, the elderly, the unemployed and the physically and mentally handicapped, to better their lives in any way possible.

Street Cause also aims to educate and empower the youth into taking proper and timely action, so as to encompass a brighter tomorrow. We hope to give our nation’s youth voice, and a medium to channel their energy in the right direction,” she said. Photos: N Shiva Kumar Meru
