The Shri Shakti Educational Society celebrated its 23rd annual day at its premises in Begumpet recently. Professor S Ramachandram, Vice-Chancellor, Osmania University along with members of Shri Shakti Educational Society that included D V Manohar, Chairman; Satya Pinjala, Executive Director and Yamuna Ranga Rao, Director were also present.

Prof Ramachandram said, “At the outset I congratulate the faculty and students on the occasion of 23rd annual day of the Shri Shakti Educational Society. By looking at Hotel Management courses, I feel we have courses that are job-oriented. That is commendable. I feel we should have similar programmes across all the disciplines.”

“I was going through a report on higher education recently, it says only 18.1 per cent of engineering graduates are employable and only 10 per cent of students from other courses are employable. Of course this excludes the Hotel Management course as all are employable.

However, this is a sad state of affair in the nation. The Government and UGC are pushing CBCS - Choice Based Credit Courses, as part of that system there should be some courses that provide employable skills,” he shared.

In his presidential address Manohar said, “Practical skills are what matters as you graduate from the course and this college has laid special emphasis on imparting that training. No hotel in the world can do without Indians; we leave an indelible mark, our service standards are high and we excel particularly in hospitality.

So nothing can better you, the whole world is before you, so aim high and you will do very well in your career.” The students made a special effort to make the occasion memorable. The presentation of food preparations, flowers and beverages was creative showcasing their talent.

The cultural programme by students demonstrated India’s diversity and was the highlight of the event. The performances impressed the guests and enthralled the students. Academic and culinary high achievers were awarded and felicitated on the occasion.
