Proving their calibre as innovators, students of Lords Institute of Engineering & Technology bagged the ‘Best Innovator’ award at the ‘Rural Innovators Startup Conclave 2017’ recently.

Proving their calibre as innovators, students of Lords Institute of Engineering & Technology bagged the ‘Best Innovator’ award at the ‘Rural Innovators Startup Conclave 2017’ recently.

A team of four final year Civil Engineering students, Mohammed Abdul Samee, Mohammed Sabeel Ahmed, Mohammed Kaiser, Mohammed Abdul Samee under the guidance of their professor, Mohammed Safiuddin came up with the idea of an eco friendly, inexpensive, sustainable alternative, the bamboo reinforced mud concrete structure.

The innovation bagged the first prize and cash award of Rs 50,000. Speaking on the occasion Tauseef Ahmed, Vice-Chairman of Lords Institute of Engineering & Technology said, "We are proud of our students for achieving this monumental accomplishment. We inspire our students to look beyond boundaries of education and keep them motivated to participate and triumph in national level competitions.”

The competition had around 90 teams participating from all over India, also featuring top engineering colleges. The winning team informed, “This innovative solution can reduce the cost of construction and can be used to build G or G+1 building, beams, footings and slabs, ultimately generating employment in the long run.”
