Raja Radha Reddy Institute of Dance and Music is conducting a unique World Dance Day workshop from the April 24-27 at the Phoenix Arena Art & Culture Centre, Hitec City. The sessions will be conducted by well-known speakers such Dr Anuradha Jonnalagadda, Dr Yashoda Thakore, Dr Seshulatha Vishwanath, K Rajagopala Charya and Y Basava Raju.
Raja Radha Reddy Institute of Dance and Music is conducting a unique World Dance Day workshop from the April 24-27 at the Phoenix Arena Art & Culture Centre, Hitec City. The sessions will be conducted by well-known speakers such Dr Anuradha Jonnalagadda, Dr Yashoda Thakore, Dr Seshulatha Vishwanath, K Rajagopala Charya and Y Basava Raju.
The workshop is designed to expose the participants to subjects related to dance such as History, Yoga, Music, Taalam and light designing, which were earlier an integral part of dance training but are generally not covered nowadays. These will be interactive sessions which are structured to give insight to not only dance students but dance lovers of all ages.
On the second day, Dr Yashoda Thakore will be doing an interactive session where participants will be taught yoga asanas which help them improve their posture and stances in classical dance performance as well as day to day lives.
It will be followed by, Y Basava Raju, a well-known light designer for dance and theatre, who will conduct a session on stage lighting. The session will help you understand some of the basic tools that are used for lighting so that you can enhance your performances with it and will also discuss latest practices and light choreographies prevalent across the world.
The last day will have an interactive session conducted by Dr Seshulatha Viswanath, who is a leading Carnatic musician and Professor of Carnatic music. In the session, participants will be taught basic music precipice and will be explained in detail about the various systems of items such as sabdams, padams, javalis, etc.
On the first day of the workshop from Dr Anuradha Jonalgadda (Prof. of Dance, University of Hyderabad) will deliver a session. This unique session will give you insight into the history of classical dance, Kuchipudi and nuances that go into the making of a good performance and a good performer. It will be followed by a screening of a documentary on Classical Dance and Kuchipudi.
The third day will see K Rajagopala Charya, leading Mridangam player and Professor at Music College Hyderabad will be conducting a session on Indian Classical Dance, which is based on a complex rhythmic structure and is an essential part of dancers training. This session will give you an introduction to the rhythmic system and show you the correlation between dance and mathematics.
