Hyderabad Western Music Forum Academy organised its annual day function for students engaged in learning western classical music. Piano recitals by Saksath who performed ‘The Swing Detectives and Landler (Schubert)’, Advait performed ‘Rainbow (Ray Moore)’, Ananya played ‘Giga D-minor (Richard Jones)’, Ishita rendered ‘Rococo Plus (Mike Cornick)’, Kashvi played ‘Hound Dog (popularised by Elvis Presley)’, Harshith ‘One call away (Charlie Puth)’ and Yash performed ‘Sonata in A (Domenico Scarlatti)’.
This was followed by vocal recitals by Zara Rachel ‘Jesus loves me (Anna Werner; popularised by Whitney Houston)’, Priya ‘My favourite things (Sound of Music/Hammerstein)’, Abhay sang ‘What a wonderful world (popularised by Louis Armstrong)’, Haritha recited ‘Anytime you need a friend (Mariah Carey)’, Saachi performed ‘When we were young (Adele)’. Haritha and Nicole concluded with a song ‘Let us wander’ of Purcell (Gavotte).
There was some creative work as well by the students when Shreyas after playing ‘Sonatina Op 36 (Muzio Clementi)’ played Raga Bangala/Girirajasutha with his sister Lasya singing along the Carnatic composition. Another creative work was the dance of Avalokita set to instrumental music on piano JS Bach Prelude I by Joe Koster. It was very nice to see very tiny youngsters show their performance on Piano, Violin, Trumpet and other musical instruments, which was full of promise about great talent developing in the near future.
