Hailing from Begumpet, the duo of, mother, Kavita Johri, and daughter, Shivali Johri Srivastava, recently created a Guinness Book of World Record. They showcased ‘Largest Display of Handmade Paper Dolls’ at Gitam University, in presence of a few independent judges.

They beat the previous record of 1,145 dolls by making 1,251 dolls. Speaking about the feat Kavita shared, “Every doll is two-inch and they are different from each other. We are happy for achieving this record. We want to inspire people and we did this. I am planning to open an art school to teach the children about the importance of art. My husband, Anil Srivatsava encouraged us to achieve this record.”

Entering into Guinness Book of World Records is not a cake walk. About the record Shivali said, “For the record, the dolls should be light weighted and must be in a standstill position at least ten minutes.”

“We worked till 2 am for more than three months to achieve this feat. We used 1,300 quilling sets to touch the 1,200 mark. We also worked on the weekends to complete this record as soon as possible. We are planning to create more Guinness Records and we are already working on making the largest display of handmade paper jewellery,” Shivali an engineering first-year student at GITAM University added.
