The Engine and three Coaches of Train No. 57550 Aurangabad to Hyderabad Passenger derailed in Karnataka State between Kalgupur and Bhalki Railway Stations on Parli-Vikarabad section of Secunderabad Division at around 01.50 hrs on April 21.  However, all the passengers travelling in the train were safe.

The Engine and three Coaches of Train No. 57550 Aurangabad to Hyderabad Passenger derailed in Karnataka State between Kalgupur and Bhalki Railway Stations on Parli-Vikarabad section of Secunderabad Division at around 01.50 hrs on April 21. However, all the passengers travelling in the train were safe.

On receiving the information, Vinod Kumar Yadav, General Manager, South Central Railway rushed to the spot from Secunderabad to monitor relief measures and supervise the restoration work to bring the train operations back to normalcy at the earliest. The General Manager was accompanied by other senior officials from headquarters and Secunderabad Division.

Over 500 passengers travelling by the train were evacuated to Kalgupur, from where special buses were arranged to transport them to Bidar. Their further travel towards Hyderabad was arranged by the Bidar- Hyderabad Intercity Express. Catering arrangements were made to serve the needs of stranded passengers.

Railway Protection Force was deputed to take care of the security of passengers and their baggage, while other staff took care of their comfort and convenience. Help line numbers were immediately activated at major Railway stations including Hyderabad, Aurangabad, Parli, Bidar, Bhalki and Vikarabad to communicate Information regarding the derailment and Train movements etc., to the public.

At the spot of derailment, the Switch Expansion Joint, Plate screws, Nuts and brackets of the track were found in open condition without any damage mark. Acting upon the suspected conditions at the spot, the Government Railway Police (GRP) and the State Police i.e., Karnataka Police personnel who reached the site, took up investigation with the help of Dog squads. After clearance from the Police, restoration work will be finished on war footing to bring train services in the section back to normal.

The General Manager, SCR has ordered for a high level Inquiry by setting up a committee comprising of Chief Transportation Manager/General, Chief Motive Power Engineer/Diesel, Chief Safety Officer, Chief Security Commissioner and Chief Track Engineer, SCR which will investigate the incident and submit its report.
