A piece of land, which once served as a Septic Tank in Devdaspura, Golconda, is now alleged to be under encroachment by land sharks, who claim to be having a court order for backing. Locals living in the vicinity of Owaisi Ground, insist that since the place belongs to the government, it must take possession of the land and come up with amenities for the locals.
According to the locals, the 400 sq yd of land which remained dysfunctional as a Septic Tank for more than a decade caught the attention of some land grabbers recently. They now have already sold off a few plots claiming to be the real owners of the land.
The Septic Tank, which has served for more than two decades become dysfunctional about 12 years back and catered to 500 houses prior to construction of subline in the area, as part of development process. “The Septic Tank was inaugurated by the then MLA, Baddam Bal Reddy in 1984 for ensuring hygiene in the locality.
But after more than three decades, land grabbers with political backing have turned this into a real-estate venture. Locals were threatened of the consequences, if the development was objected. Even the officials who visited the site are mum. No action has been initiated,” said one youngster, on condition of anonymity.
The land, which is located on the eastern side of the Owaisi Ground has been marked down as Septic Tank even in the Google mapping. The locals who never saw any changes during past several years were aghast to the development, as a notice board along with blue fencing has come up overnight.
“It comes under the Survey number 9/11 of Golconda and only couple of days ago the original structure was demolished and complete fencing was erected,” the local added. However, the claimants of land Mirza Ibrahim Baig, claims this to be under survey number 300 and broadly displays ‘Judgement’ citing O S 2647 of 1990, XIX Assistant Judge. The notice also cautions locals as well as the officials of Revenue, not to interfere in the matter.
