A one day workshop on ‘Training for Tranquilizing and capturing of Free Ranging wild animals’ was conducted in the Nehru Zoological Park on Monday, for the front line staff of Telangana Forest Department in collaboration with the Wildlife Tranquil Force.

Hitesh Malhotra, Shafath Ali Khan, Dr M Navin Kumar, and Shivani Dogra headed the workshop. About 60 people participated in the workshop, from different cadres like Forest Range Officer, Dy. Range Officer, Forest Section Officer, Forest Beat Officer and Asst. Beat officer.

The workshop started at 10am, with the inaugural session and welcome address was delivered by Dr MA Hakeem. Later, Shivani addressed the participants and emphasised on the need and usefulness of such workshops in the field, for the front line staff of the forest department who, on a daily basis, deal with conflicting issues related to wildlife.

The force is the only NGO in the country to offer practical training in firing a rifle/tranquilising equipment’s, together with theory classes and drug administration. The participants thanked the team members of the force, and the forest department for conducting the workshop in a well-organized manner.
