TSWREIS opens world of opportunities for kids

If summer holidays are meant for fun and frolic for students of every age-group, many clubs and associations based in the city take advantage of the period by conducting camps that cater to diverse fields.

The Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society (TSWREIS), which runs 267 residential educational institutions across Telangana State, is no exception.

Besides providing quality education to the underprivileged children from economically-deprived families, it is making efforts to encourage students to develop a sense of societal responsibility and achieve self-discipline by ways of recreational activities.

The ambitiously chalked out and presently ongoing ‘Summer Samurai Camp’ is a step in this very direction. This covers a multitude of disciplines, including sports, creative arts, photography and filmmaking, dances, science and technology.

According to Dr RS Praveen Kumar, Secretary of the Society, the options were available so that a student can excel in a field of his or her choice. The activities help the students to explore the nuances of life beyond the textbooks.

Chess – One gets introduced to the mind game right from making the first move to checkmate by seasoned coaches. This is aimed at helping the youngsters to learn traits like patience, concentration and self-control

Art and Craft – This section helps a trainee to showcase the creative side. They get honed in fields like of drawing, making greeting cards, bangles, earrings, pottery and stitching, among several such vocational options.

Filmmaking – Getting a ringside view of the ever enchanting world of filmmaking comes in a uniquely conceptualised form. The students were given training in handling the camera, videos and editing.

Abacus – Learning Mathematics is an unpleasant experience for many students. Abacus and Vedic Math programmes transform the tedious process into a fun and blissful learning experience.

Swaero-Tech and Robotics – With technology being the in-thing in today’s ruthlessly competitive world. This section tunes the students to survive the rough and tumble by developing computer coding skills and effective robot applications.

Aesthetics and Health – Students were given tips on how to maintain a fit and healthy body. To get to learn livelihood options in the lifestyle industry, girls and boys got inkling about the functioning of Salons and how best make one more trendy and fashionable.

To the coaches and trainers at the camp, it was mission accomplished.
