In spite of multiple reports about the pathetic condition of city lakes, authorities are in deep slumber in restoring the water bodies. Another one to join the list of dying lakes is the beautiful one at Indira Park.

As of Friday, Hyacinth, which has spread over 50 per cent of the lake, has reduced the water levels of the body. The park staff even turned a blind eye to Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) commissioner B Janardhan Reddy's instructions to clear it with immediate effect in April.
Due to depletion of water levels the boat rides have been stopped.

Naveen Babu, a 45-year-old jogger rues that GHMC officials have been turning a blind eye even after lodging several complaints. Echoing his concern, Sudheer Kumar, a 35-year-old said that park staff was not even watering the plants. He said that even though water resource was available, the staff ignored their chores.

When queried about the same subject, A Laxminarayana of Circle 9B said, “We have started removing the hyacinth from the lake and as the water level has decreased we are even trying to fill it.”
