Mellifluous music recital

Sawani Shende from Pune performed a vocal music recital at the Paigah Palace, Begumpet in the city which started with a Hindustani classical music rendition in Raga Maru Bihag in Vilambit laya followed by “Jao Sajana Mein Nahi Bolon” in Teental.

She then rendered Ektaal Tarana “O Dani Dhim Tana Dire Na”. She then sang “Tere Kareeb Aake” of Ahmed Faraz. She also sang her father Dr. Sanjeev Shende's composition “Matwale Balama”.

The next song was Sardar Anjum’s “Jab kabhi tera naam lete hain, Dil se haam intaqam lete hain”. She rendered “Tumko hum dil mein basa lenge, tum aao to sahin” by Mumtaz Rashid followed by the immortal song “Yaad piya kiaaye” by Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan.

She concluded with a famous ghazal of Shakeel Badayuni “Mere humnafas, mere humnawa, mujhe dost banke daghaa na de” which was always famous for rendition by Begum Akhtar. She was given excellent accompaniment on tabla by Harijeet Singh and on harmonium by Rahul Deshpande.
