The Department of Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology of KIMS Hospitals, Secunderabad in association with Rheumatology Association, Hyderabad Chapter is organising Lupus Walk at Jalavihar on Necklace Road on Sunday.

The walk is being held as part of World Lupus Day that is commemorated on May 10 every year. This is the third consecutive walk as part of the mission and people besides the medical and non-medical staff of KIMS Hospitals, doctors and senior executives will anchor the walk.

Elaborating more on the walk on Friday, Dr Sarath Chandra Mouli, Clinical Director of Department of Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology, KIMS Hospitals said, “The auto immune disease, is not widely understood or known, though its impact has no boundaries. It is a global health problem that affects people of all age groups, demographics, genders, regions and climatic conditions.

The other name for Lupus is SLE (Systemic Lupus Erythematosus). Lupus is nine times more common in female. Lupus can chronically affect any part of the body in any way, at any time, often with unpredictable and life-changing results. Now, the lupus patients are leading normal life due to availability good therapies.”
