On the occasion of 609 birth anniversary of Saint Tallapaka Annamacharya, a musical programme was ‘Annamayya Pada Sankirtana’ organised by Amateur and Professional Singers Organisation (APSO), Hyderabad recently at Tirunilayam, TTD, Himayatnagar.    

On the occasion of 609 birth anniversary of Saint Tallapaka Annamacharya, a musical programme was ‘Annamayya Pada Sankirtana’ organised by Amateur and Professional Singers Organisation (APSO), Hyderabad recently at Tirunilayam, TTD, Himayatnagar.

Annamacharya was the earliest Indian musician to compose ‘Sankirtanas’ in praise of Lord Venkateswara. He was also the first known composer in Carnatic music. Around 30 singers from various music academies of Hyderabad participated in the programme.

The programme started with the Annamacharya kirthana ‘Govindha Govindha Yani Koluvare’ by Little Musicians Academy. Then followed by ‘Navaneeta Chora Namo Namo’, ‘Rajeeva Netraya’ by Prasanna Laxmi, ‘Unnato Unnatonnatudu’ by Gopala Krishna, ‘Etuvanti Mohamo’ by Bhavya, disciple of Dr Vyzarsu Balasubrahmanyam, ‘Deva Devam Bhaje Divya Prabhavam’ by K Ramachari, ‘Valachi Vachiti Nenu’ by Himabindu and ‘Ee Viswasambu Yevariki Yevaru’ by KSR Murthy.

The amateur and professional singers mesmerised the audience with their great singing skills. KV Ramana Chary, Adviser for Government of Telangana and Prof. Kusumba Sitarama Rao, Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Ambedkar Open University and Mamidi Harikrishna, Director for Department of Language and Culture, Government of Telangana have attended the programme and blessed the budding singers.
