Authorities at Sri Lakshmi Ganapathi Temple will conduct a three-day maha yagam to invoke ‘divine blessing for timely rains’ on Saturday. The authorities are planning for a ‘One Lakh Modaka Yagam’ in which modakas will be offered to God.

“We are conducting this yagam for the welfare of the society, in which one lakh modakas will be offered to Lord Sri Lakshmi Ganapathi for his blessings,” said Dr M Satyanarayana Shasthri, Founder and Chairman of Temple announced in Somajiguda on Wednesday.

Vidyaranya Bharathi Swamy, Madhavanandha Swarasvathi swamy among few others will be part of this ritual. More than 150 pujaris will offer the modakas to Lord Ganesha.

“Modaka is made-up of Astadravya (mixture of eight elements). The uniqueness of the temple is that the idol of Lord Sri Lakshmi Ganapathi is made-up of Emeralds. The ritual is conducted not only for the welfare of the people, but also for growth of flora and fauna,” said Shasthri.

Governer ESL Narshimhan and Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatreya are expected going to be part of the event. “We have arranged accomadation and food for more than 10,000 devotees who are going to attend this yagam for three days,” said Shasthri.
