Qadir Ali Baig Theatre Foundation recently organised a ‘Theatre Weekend’ at the Mercure Hotel, Somajiguda. As a part of it, a play ‘Six’ staged over the weekend.

The play ‘Six’ directed by Jeff Goldberg is an adaptation of ‘A Midnight Clear’ by LB Hamilton. The play revolves around the gay men who do not end up together as one of them gets married to a girl owing to the societal pressure.

The story is about Siddharth Tehriyani (Prateik Babbar) an owner of an IPL team and Rahul Sharma (Suhail Sidhwani) a star player of the team come face to face when Rahul comes to see Siddharth.

After seeing Siddharth with many wounds Rahul knows that Siddharth was brutally attacked and raped. He inquiries about it but Siddharth refuse to explain what was happened to him. Later, the two characters start revealing hidden layers of their personal life. In the end, the duo separated due to the societal pressure.

The play depicts about the problems of gay people, especially LGBTQ community in the Indian context. It also showcases how society is treating the LGBTQ community people. It also depicts the various aspects of being homosexual in a conservative society.

Suhail Sidhwani who played the Rahul Sharma role did well with his body language and mannerisms that perfectly suited for a gay man who forcibly married to a girl. Prateik Babbar, who played the role of Siddharth Tehriyani mesmerised the audience with his flawless dialogue delivery and expressions.
