A community effort

Over 500 residents of Neknampur Village participated in a 5K Run organised as part of Environment Day celebrations on Sunday.

The event, which was organised the Neknampur Lakes Restoration & Development Cooperative Society, culminated at the Ibrahim Lake and was aimed at creating awareness for citizens to understand how collaboration with government can lead to results.

Speaking on the occasion, Sunil Chakravarthi, President of the ‘Cooperative Society’ said, “This is just the start of Ibrahim Lake revival. We will collaborate with government targeting for lake clean-up, beautification and develop a walking track around the lake. This event also encourages people to demonstrate social responsibility in every little way they can.”

MP Vishweshwar Reddy who flagged off the event said, “These initiatives will help people to understand importance of preservation of water bodies and the environment besides keeping the surroundings clean and green.”

Celebrities like Suresh Babu, Aryan Rajesh, Allari Naresh and Tanish were also present at the event. Ushesh Kumar, Sarpanch Neknampur Gram Panchayat, Lake Protection Committee Members Radhika, Kiran Kumar Reddy Ch, Jithender Merugu, Pramod Reddy, Manoj Nagaraj Kancham, Sravan Kumar A, Srinivas, Eswar Reddy and Nagendra also participated.
