Department of Language and Culture, Government of Telangana organised various cultural events over the weekend as a part of Telangana State Formation Day Celebrations (June 2) at Ravindra Bharati.

Department of Language and Culture, Government of Telangana organised various cultural events over the weekend as a part of Telangana State Formation Day Celebrations (June 2) at Ravindra Bharati.

On day-1, the cultural activities began with Professor Alekhya Punjala and team’s dance recital about the life of Rani Rudrama Devi, ruler of Kakatiya Dynasty.

The dance recital depicted Rudrama’s birth, her valiant skills, becoming the princess, marriage with Virabhadra and more. It also showcased how Rudrama Devi overcomes the sudden death of Virabhadra and how she ruled the Kakatiya Kingdom.

After the spellbinding performance of Rani Rudrama Devi, a dance recital titled ‘Temples of Telangana’ performed by Pramod Kumar Reddy and his troupe from to Abhinetri Arts Academy followed.

Pramod Kumar and his group paid homage to the temples of the state including Sri Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple, Sri Ramalingeswara Swamy Temple, Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple, Sri Anjaneya Swamy Temple, Kaleshwara Muktheswara Swamy Temple, Gnana Saraswati Temple, Bhadrakali Temple, Thousand Pillar Temple, Sammakka Saralamma temple, Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy Temple, Seetha Ramachandra Swamy Temple, Sri Jogulamba Devi Shaktipeeth Temple, by explaining their history and various characteristic rituals.

On day-2, the programs began with Perini Prakash group along with disciples of Kalakrishna’s rendering Perini dance, the dance that was performed by male dancers before the soldiers set to war ages ago.

Following Perini dance, ‘Jaya Jayahe Telangana’, a dance recital about Telangana State formation was performed. Written by Vaddepalli Krishna and directed by Anitha Rao, the dance recital showcased the important milestones in Telangana formation dance form.

The day-2 cultural activities ended with a Mime show by artist Madhu.
