In their quest to encourage sports talent, particularly the emerging ones, Next Education India Pvt Ltd (NEIPL) has zeroed in on 14-year-old shuttler S Kavi Purya, who is a native of Puducherry.

In a major boost to her future plans, NEIPL gifted her scholarship worth Rs four lakh at the Pullela Gopichand Badminton Academy (PGBA) where she trains.

For one, who took to the sport as a seven-year-old, Priya has already pocketed 12 medals in national and international events. In 2016, she made a sweep of the Puducherry State Championship by winning Under-15, 17 and 19 singles titles.

Beas Dev Ralhan, CEO and Co-founder, Next Education India Pvt Ltd, said, "We chose the highly talented Priya more as one who can inspire fellow-youngsters to pursue sports.

At Next Education, we firmly believe that physical education is as important as academics for the overall development of a child.

While our teaching modules and textbooks stress on yoga and physical education, we also want to grant scholarships and support the children, who are adept at sports, but find few takers to back them.”

In her thanksgiving, Priya, who was accompanied by her parents, stated that this was momentous occasion for her. She contended that the scholarship would help cover her travel costs, preparations, entry fees and go for extra coaching stints.

More than anything else, this would lower the financial burden on her parents, she explained with a sigh of relief.
