While men’s health is still an emerging concern, the focus was to increase awareness among people about the importance of male health issues. In this regard, as part of ‘The International Men’s Week’, Aware Gleneagles Global Hospitals conducted a 5km walk covering about 200 residents across LB Nagar on Monday.

The hospital staff along with people representing different age groups from all walks of life participated in the event with enthusiasm. Dr Laxman Bellamkonda, Sr Consultant Urology and Andrology said, “Today the common working man has a lot of stress related to social and family pressure along with work related pressure. He isn’t much bothered about his health.”

“Issues like cardiac ailments, diabetes and hypertension always have a higher prevelance in men. What is not taken care are issues like prostate cancer, impotency, loss of libido and erectile dysfunction. Above the age of 40 every Indian man should be definitely screening his health parameters for these disease conditions,” he said.

The event was flagged off by Dr Sharath Chandran, Chief Operating Officer, Gleneagles Global Hospitals who said, “We are commited to work on the relevant health conditions of a common man that needs added trust in improving the general well being. On the same lines we have launched an economical health screening package mainly targeting the male population of Hyderabad.”

As an extension to the event Aware Gleneagles Global Hospitals, LB Nagar launched “Men’s Health Screening” for a package of Rs 999 to provide better care for health issues affecting men. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Vijay Madduri, Consultant Urologist, appreciated the enthusiastic participation of all personnel and lauded their efforts in reaching out to the local people for generating awareness on the ‘Men’s Health Week’.
