R Vighnesh of Tactica Chess Academy prevailed over Virinchi in the decisive tie-breaker to win the junior title of the 133rd Brilliant Trophy Open Chess Championship at Brilliant Grammar High School in Dilsukhnagar.

R Vighnesh of Tactica Chess Academy prevailed over Virinchi in the decisive tie-breaker to win the junior title of the 133rd Brilliant Trophy Open Chess Championship at Brilliant Grammar High School in Dilsukhnagar.

Having aggregated six points from their respective outings, Vighnesh and Virinch went into the tie-breaker where the former pipped the opponent to the post. Sai Maneendra, with five points, finished third.

With a clean sweep of all the six rounds, D Naga Shashank toped in thme open category. K Sarat Chandra (5.5) and P Satyanarayand (5) took the second and third places, respectively.

Later, K Kanna Reddy, Secretary of Hyderabad District Chess Association distributed the prizes in the presence of Organising Secretary J Subrahmanyam.
