Bling bling of the sequins

Sequins and shimmer are fashion lovers first choice but getting overboard can create the biggest fashion faux pas. Designer Aditi Somani says that sequins have always been in vogue with different exploration techniques for different seasons.

"Sequins do add a party vibe to the whole outfit and up the style quotient of the look especially for the party season. Carefully placed patterns using sequins can definitely give a completely new appeal to the look. It adds a chic glamour quotient to your party looks and is here to stay this season," said Somani.

"It would be one of the perfect ways to amp up the appeal of your outfit for the party season. A sequined top can be paired with solid straight leg pants to add all the jazz you want. Gold sequined loose pants with a crisp white shirt and a statement accessory can be paired together for a party ready look," said Somani.

For those who want just a sprinkle of the glitter, they can opt for sequined cuffs, collars, headbands and even bags. A black sequined box bag can amp up the style quotient of the most basic solid coloured dresses. Sequined statement shoes can be a great option as well to add an element of glamour to your look," said Somani.

Designer Simran Arya feels that every season sequined garments are reinvented using different shapes and silhouettes creating a feminine and elegant look. While incorporating sequins in your wardrobe, one must remember to keep in mind to select a silhouette that flatters the body.

"Team up a sequins top with solid colour palazzos or denim jeans and you are good to go. Opt for an embellished black dress or formal sequined shirt that not only gives a dressy look but also adds a touch of uniqueness to your attire," said Arya.

"Jeans with sequin patches look extremely stylish and give a casual chic look. Team these shimmer pants with a crop top or with a sheer poncho and you are ready for a fashionable summer afternoon. It's important to select the right accessories, in case you choose to wear a sequin ensemble, keep the accessories simple and understated," said Arya.

Designer Siddartha Tytler said, "A lot of people believe that shimmer and sequins on clothes mean that they are night looks, but I differ. There are subtle ways of adding shimmer to your looks that can be worn in the day too. Shimmer can be added in your wardrobe in two ways, either subtly or straight out there." Tytler added that "Indian outfits are incomplete without a little shimmer if not a lot, whether it’s for women or men".
