Indian Public Library Movement’s (IPLM) quarterly partners meeting was held in Hyderabad recently. Speaking on the occasion of MoU exchange between Telangana government and IPLM which was hosted by NASSCOM Foundation, Dileep Konatham, Director, Information and Technology, defined the state as “Telangana a startup state, with a startup bent of mind”.

Speaking on the occasion of MoU exchange between Telangana government and IPLM which was hosted by NASSCOM Foundation, Dileep Konatham, Director, Information and Technology, defined the state as “Telangana a startup state, with a startup bent of mind”.

“Telangana understands the importance of connectivity in digital era; so, very recently, on world Wi-Fi day, HyFi project was launched under which all programs of the government will be e-connected, so that it has a better reach and becomes more inclusive,” he added Grandhalaya Chairman, Dr A Shreedhar expressed his happiness to be associated with IPLM and requested for support to the newly formed state and also committed his support to the Public Library movement.

While speaking, he also mentioned that K Chandrashekhar Rao, Chief Minister, Telangana, himself is a voracious reader and, similarly, the Deputy Chief Minister, Mr. K.T. Rao has been a champion of investing in the Public Libraries. Mr. K.T. Rao has committed to invest funds in the public libraries of Telangana.

Expressing her gratitude, IPLM Executive Director, Shubhangi Sharma thanked the Chairman and the Library and IT Directors and the other officials for their continuous support to DEF, the implementing partner of IPLM in the state.

Recognising the efforts of the Telangana Government for uplifting the image and utility of Public Libraries as new age knowledge centers she hoped that this collaboration would take the state to new vistas of development and growth.

She requested IT Department of Telangana to support the movement and the Directorate of Public Libraries to reposition the Public Libraries into hub of knowledge and information through effective usage of technology.
