It was all about engaging children in creative thinking processes as the second season of ‘Book Donation Drive’ from K Raheja Corp drew curtains in the city on Thursday. The collection drive, which was part of the Teaching Tree imitative, opened itself to read books, new story books and notebooks.

The community engagement programme saw participation from clients working out of the Mindspace Business Park as well as employees of K Raheja Corp. Books collected were handed over to the NGO Teach for India, who will utilise them to set up new libraries and re-furbish old libraries in schools that need the assistance.

Speaking on the initiative, actress Bhanu Sri Tripathi said, “This philanthropic initiative not only promotes literacy in the community but also gives these young students an opportunity to develop their learning skills. The books collected will encourage reading among students, which is essential for a child’s overall growth. I am delighted to be a part of this cause, and interact with these kids about their ambitions and future goals in life.”

Speaking on this occasion, Shrawan Kumar Gone, Director Operations, K Raheja Corp said, “It is fundamental to engage students with interesting reading material in developing their creative thinking while honing their learning skills.”“With the sole purpose of transforming the lives of children in need and eliminating education inequality, K Raheja Corp has effectively and repeatedly contributed to the field of education through various activities; one being the Book Donation Drive,” he added.

Speaking on the drive, Teach for India spokesperson said, "We congratulate K Raheja Corp for the successful completion of the event and we are extremely grateful to them for initiating this drive which would benefit 5,100 children of Teach For India in honing their reading skills.”

“The books collected will help us set up new libraries and renew old libraries in schools where our Fellows are striving to provide an excellent education to children. We consider this as a 'celebration of giving' and very excited to see this whole hearted support from the employees of Raheja Mindspace. We thank all those who contributed to the cause and making this initiative a huge success,” said the spokesperson.
