An inter School debate competition was organised by HQ Telangana and Andhra Sub Area (TASA) at MCEME Auditorium in Secunderabad Cantonment on July 3.  

An inter School debate competition was organised by HQ Telangana and Andhra Sub Area (TASA) at MCEME Auditorium in Secunderabad Cantonment on July 3.

The topic for the motion was ‘Climate change is indeed one of the defining issues of our times. However, the need of development of the country should not be inhibited by climate concerns.’

Major General Sharabh Pachory, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of Telangana and Andhra Sub Area was the chief guest on the occasion and distributed the prizes to the winners.

Other dignitaries included Brigadier MD Upadhyay, Station Commander and President of Cantonment Board, Colonel SS Deshpande, Colonel GS (TASA) and several other military, Air Force and civil personalities. The jury comprised of three accomplished civilian academicians.

Students from Army Public School (APS) Bolarum, APS Golconda, APS RK Puram, Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV) Tirumalagiri and Sainik School Kalikiri participated in the competition. The participants spoke with great confidence and vigour and put up some thought worthy points.

Aman Gupta and Sudeshna Chandra from APS Golconda bagged first and second prizes respectively while the third position was claimed by Ayushmann Josyula from APS RK Puram.

APS Golconda was announced as the overall winners of the competition. During the function, the board exam toppers from APS RK Puram and APS Bolarum were felicitated with cash prizes and the Schools were praised for their academic excellence.

At the end of the debating the motion was put to vote by the audience. An overwhelming 98 per cent of the 300 voted against the motion thumping that we need to preserve our natural resources for our grandchildren.
