On the occasion of Guru Purnima, the Mata Amritanandamayi Math hosted elaborate celebrations to pay obeisance to Sage Veda Vyas and Mata Amritanandamayi at the Ashram of Maredpally on Sunday.

Devotees from all over the twin cities, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, participated in theGuru Paduka Pooja of Her divine holiness Satguru Mata Amritanandamayi Devi, conducted by a disciple Brahamchari Raghunath Swami.

The celebrations at the Ashram started with the MahaGanapathyHomam, the traditional “Paduka Pooja” the “Samskriti Pooja," where students of Amrita Vidyalayam performed padukapoojatotheir parents and followed by the “MahaSarvaiswaryaYagnam” which helps to overcome sufferings, tread,and prosperity and pray for world peace.

BrahmachariRaghnathSwamiin his Satangoccasion said, “The spiritual masters down the ages passed on the wisdom to embracethe ups and downs, joys and sorrows in life with the same intensity and positive attitude,to usher in a sense of fulfillment. They wanted us to awaken our inner power, recognise its immense strength, and offer oneself to the world while being charitable and magnanimous to other fellow humans.”

City honours teachers

Devotees in large numbers thronged the SadguruSaibaba temples in various localities in the twin cities and the surrounding areas in connection with the Guru poornima festival on Sunday.

They had darshan of Saibaba and offered special poojas at the temples, as part of Guru Poornima celebrations. Right from early hours of this morning, special programmes were organised at the temples and many of the temples were decorated.

TheSaibaba temples at Dilsukhnagar, Chaderghat, Panjagutta and other places were special attractions on the day, where devotees offered special prayers.
