5,000 Jains to chant peace mantra 36 lakh times on Sunday

The announcement came through a statement from the organisation on Thursday that said, “We will assemble in Ranigunj and chant “NavkarManthra” for 36 lakh times for world peace. Ṇamōkāra mantra, what Gayatri Manthra for Hindus, is the highly revered and the most significant mantra in Jainism.

Similarly, Jain samajwill also embarked on another initiative where 1,008 Jains along with their monks will go on eightdayfast beginning from July 17. “Along with them 18 leprosy patients belong to different communities and religions will also go on the fast, which will begin in Chennai and culminate in the city on July 23,” said the statement.
Upadhyaya said,“Peace is something we must all work for, everyday, in every country. It begins with smile. Love your religion, but hug other religions too. These peace building initiatives are small steps towards propagating the importance of peace across the globe”.
“Through these initiatives, we want to build a sustainable movement for a culture of peace for generations to come,” added Ashok Bohra, working President of Shri VardhamanSthanakvasi Jain Shravak Sangh, Secunderabad.
