The weekend cultural activities organised recently at the Amphitheatre, Shilparamam enthralled the audience. Kuchipudi by Sravani, Bharatanatyam by Lahari, student of Dr Ananda Shanker and Kuchipudi by students of Prathibha Raj Goud mesmerised the audience.

The programme begins with Kuchipudi dance by Sravani for the verses like ‘Bhajamanasa’, ‘Bhama Kalapam’ and ‘Deva Devam Bhaje’. Sravani’s ‘Bhama Kalapam’ portrays, Satya Bhama who is the wife of God Krishna.

Satya Bhama who is the beautiful and proud queen expresses herself in many moods. It revolves around the ‘Pranaya Kalaha’ between Sathya Bhama and Sri Krishna, the ensuing viraha of hers, shedding of her pride and ending with their coming together. Later she performed for ‘Bhajamanasa’, and ‘Deva Devam Bhaje’.

After the spellbinding show by Sravani, Lahari Jalamangala rendered for Bharatanatyam. Tall and statuesque, with a lissome visage, along with deep musical understanding, Lahari brings to her dance a quiet strength and sensitivity of portrayal, internalising as she does the deeper meaning of her art.

During the programme, students of Prathibha Raj Goud performed a flawless Kuchipudi dance. Towards the end students of Chandratapa Saha Roy performed Kathak and students of Satyavathi performed Bharatanatyam.
