About 350 saplings of different varieties were planted at the Mudfort workshop of the Secunderabad Cantonment here on Thursday. The Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) plans to plant 10,000 saplings this season.

Last year, SCB planted 50,000 saplings out of which 30 per cent survived. This year, the planting will continue for the next 20 days in parks, schools, road side and in open spaces. Different varieties of saplings such as casual Fistulla, Piltroform, Jivi, Silver Oak and Tikoma were planted at the workshop.

In the coming days, the plantation drive would be taken up in Thirumalgherry, Bolarum, Bowenpally, Rasoolpura, Mahendra Hills and in other locations. MLA G Sayanna along with SCB vice president J Ramakrishna, board members and staff from different wings of SCB were present at the Mudfort workshop.
