Veteran actor Rallapalli has expressed desolation on present-day standards in music, especially the one that is heard in films. “There is no melody… not soulful… It’s just a sound track. Unfortunately, the present generation is not evincing interest in listening to good Indian music and even the parents too side their wards” he said.

He was speaking at the felicitation programme of lyricist and singer Vandana Dwibhashyam that was held at NTR Auditorium at Telugu University on Thursday. The programme was held in commemoration of literary giant Dr C Narayana Reddy who passed away exactly 30 days back on this day. The progamme was part of seven-day light music festival jointly organised by Delhi Telugu Academy run by Nagaraju and Little Musicians Academy of Guru K Ramachary.
Rallapalli however hoped that good days may augur again as change is a cycle. Echoing the same sentiments retired judge and chairman of APREC Justice G Bhavani Prasad remarked that Telugu culture is well protected and followed in US than in Telugu states. He advised the students to have a dress code viz that depicts Telugu native flavour for the singers as they are singing classical and light music songs.
Guru Ramachary agreed to follow the suggestion hereafter. Vandana who hailed from family of literary stalwarts has penned over seventy short stories, two novels, light music songs and brought out scores of audio CDs of her songs. She has also achieved the distinction of becoming the only female lyricist to have penned all songs for a movie (7 to 4, a movie shot on the issue of Nirbhaya incident).
She is working for two more movies now and involved in several projects of making audio and video albums of all hues- devotional, light, patriotic besides writing theme songs and documentaries.Young singers who are popular in reality shows have sung many songs penned by Vandana and Guru Ramachary compeered the programme. Noted magician BV Pattibhiram, Subramanyam, member of Telangana Human Rights Commission also spoke.
