Mojito! Yes, this cocktail is liked by everyone and we doubt there is any beverage lover who does not adore this lip smacking and delicious concoction. Origin of this drink? Any guesses? Well, no points for guessing; this highball drink originated in Havana, Cuba in the 16th century.

The world knows how the Cubans love to party. And to up the ante, they mixed their favourite drink, (as Chatur says in ‘3 Idiots) Rum and ‘voila’ the world got Mojito! We should thank the Cubans, in high spirits for giving us mojito. Infused with fresh produce this drink surely makes one go “Wow”.

The mojito is one of the most famous rum-based highballs and there are several versions of the mojito. July 11 was World Mojito Day, and to celebrate this with pomp Glocal Junction launched the ‘Mojito Festival’ to rejoice the goodness and variety of this amazing drink and they have concocted 12 different types of mojitos with each having a flavour of its own. The festival continues for a week until July 17.

The colourful refreshing drink comes with equally colourful names. The bartenders at Glocal Junction have perfected the art of putting together concoctions using diverse ingredients like passion fruit, green chilli, kafir lime leaves, frozen berries, lemon grass, and more, which give the mojitos a glamorous makeover and an edgy twist. Indian flavours like chat masala and black salt lent distinctive flavours making for a unique experience.

‘Alma de Cuba’, mixed with orange juice along with kafir lime and cucumber has that tad bit of tangy taste. If spice is your way of life then have ‘Rumba’ – this drink has cherry tomatoes and chilli. Every sip of this drink gives that chilli and spicy aftertaste. Follow it up with ‘Jack Went to Cuba’ as the name suggests this drink has the much-loved Jack Daniels added to it.

The other must tries at the menu are ‘James Own’, ‘Serial Killer’, ‘Sun kiss Havana’, ‘Cohiba Partner’, ‘Copa Cubana’, ‘Black Pearl’, ‘Oh! Mojito’, ‘Citro Nella’, and ‘Eye Candy’.

This festival has to be enjoyed with your friends after work or over the weekends. Relax at the lounge, and take a sip with some crazy twists and tastes for a nice and happy heady feeling. Just remember – Don’t drink and drive.
