Monsoon brings many health concerns such as malaria, fungal infections, typhoid, cholera, viral fever. Mosquitoes have a field day during monsoons as they breed in stagnant water, leading to an increase in these diseases. Data shows that there is an alarming increase of Malaria and Dengue.

The oppressive humidity and rains in monsoon make it easier for viral infections to be contagious. It is even more havoc for those having low immunity power or asthma, as they are more prone to infections during this period. Following simple steps you can prevent many contagious infections and diseases during monsoon because prevention is better than cure.

Use Mosquito Nets and keep your surroundings Hygiene: Diseases like Malaria and Dengue are common in this season. Since it is spread by female anopheles mosquito, it is advisable to use mosquito nets even during the day time. Also getting rid of the stagnant water and keeping your surroundings hygienic is important. Empty your garden pots, old containers and other items that preserve water during monsoon.

Consume healthy food and Avoid Street food: Eat healthy food to keep stomach infections at bay. Avoid eating street food as there are chances of infection at higher risk. In addition, during monsoon body needs to have water, drink a lot of boiled water, and eat home-cooked food such as leafy vegetables and fruits which tends to lower the risk of diarrhea and stomach infections. Following a healthy diet will assist you to stay healthy and avoid infections during monsoon.

Sustain a healthy and Hygienic lifestyle: Avoid walking in the dirty puddle during the rains as it is rife with infection causing and virus. Also make a habit to use sanitizers before eating to eliminate germs. Intake of vitamin C improves your immunity. Also avoid roving much in crowded public places as there are chances of viral infections. Protect yourself and your children from the diseases by taking the correct precautions like making them wear long pants and long sleeve T-shirts.
