Iconart Gallery is conducting an exhibition titled ‘Rain Song. A total of 11 artists are showcasing their paintings and installations at the expo. The theme ‘Rain Song’ represents monsoon and it has a lot of cheer and life of nature, its colour and structure. The works are vibrant and each artist has been given a unique subject such as thunder, water drops, trees, birds dance in the rain, etc.

The paintings are done in abstract, acrylic on canvas, a few are in semi-abstract, poetic form and figurative. Sharing about her installation Avani Rao said, “My installation is about ‘Black cloud living green’, which represents that the black cloud is a pregnant cloud, holding life cyclical forces.

It burst forth as rain, here metaphorically 'golden' as farmers dream. The green of the sprout is a alive as a colour can get, metamorphoses the sharp dryness of a prolonged drought. The golden stars and rain drops are illusionary, hopes of a long-awaited dream state that wait to transform a parched land, body and feeling.”

Another painting of her ‘Golden rain’ is an abstract art form. “Actually, the rain is colourless but the farmer dreaming constantly about it is metaphorically equal to gold. The golden rain is symbolic of the source. And the dry wood is symbolic of dry land.”

Kolkata-based artist Pavan Kumar has depicted the lives of people who live on the streets in his paintings. Pavan said, “I have observed these people on the streets of Kolkata. They practically do everything on streets. I have also drawn parallels between the city and rural life.”
