The ‘World Nature Conservation Day’ was celebrated today at the Nehru Zoological Park in the city on Friday. In this regard, a drawing and essay writing competition was conducted with the visiting children. About 60 students participated in the competition from schools and individuals.

Shivani Dogra, Curator of the zoo congratulated the students who participated in the competitions. Speaking on the occasion, she said that it is necessary to understand what ‘sustainability’ truly means and that it is important to inculcate environment-friendly habits to lead a green lifestyle.

“Some simple practices that can make your lifestyle green if followed in daily life are participate in the environment awareness activities, protect wildlife, plant trees in your localities, help in conservation activities in your area, wise use of resources like paper, fuel etc, efficient use of water and energy at home, try to avoid use of plastic bags while shopping, avoid littering around during travel and be a responsible tourist by practicing eco-tourism,” she said.
