Telangana State’s International Master M Chakravarthy Reddy emerged as the first winner of NITHM All India Open Fide-rated chess tournament in Gachibowli on Tuesday.

Telangana State’s International Master M Chakravarthy Reddy emerged as the first winner of NITHM All India Open Fide-rated chess tournament in Gachibowli on Tuesday.

He did well in the tie-break clincher after he and Muthaiah AL from Tamil Nadu tied for first place with nine points from 10 rounds. Sekar B from Tamil Nadu finished third with eight points.

In the final day matches, Muthaiah defeated State0mate Bharat Subramaniam in 40 moves while on the second Board Chakravarthy Reddy put it across Saurabh Khardekar of Maharashtra in 44 moves.

Later, Dr S Chinnam Reddy, Director of NITHM (National Institute of Tourism & Hospitality Management) gave away the prizes. Telangana State Chess Association General Secretary and Vice-President KS Prasad and Major KA Shiva Prasad were present on the occasion.

Placing -Top 10: 1. Chakravarthi Reddy M (TS- 9), 2. Muthaiah AL (TN 9), 3. Sekar B (TN 8), 4 Srinivasa Rao M (AP 8), 5. Dhananjay S (Chhattisgarh 8), 6. Sai Agni Jeevitesh J (TS 7.5), 7. Singh S Vikramjit (SCR 7.5), 8. Bala Kannamma P (TN 7.5), 9. Lokesh N (TN 7.5), 10. Senthil Maran K (TN 7.5).
