Legendary director, K Viswanath launched the book ‘A Symphony of Temple Bells’ written by Satya Palaparty recently at Saptaparni.

Poet Satya Palaparty, who settled in the USA came all the way to Hyderabad to launch her first debut poetry book.

“I started reading and writing at an early age of nine and it was my father who encouraged me a lot. My father used to pay me for every poem that I wrote and he wanted me to be a writer. After marriage, I shifted to the USA. I wish to be the shadow of my husband. He is in my breath, thoughts, he is on every page and word, and even though he is not here we should celebrate the thing,” says Satya Palaparty, who dedicated the book to her father and her husband.

Satya shares that the book is a collection of poems on a wide range of social impact subjects, including feminist issues and the significance of the insignificant and it serves as a pathway to knowing the self as well as the world.

Drawing from reflections on her time in India and her cross-cultural experiences as an immigrant in the United States, she shares, “Symphony speaks of the worldly human condition and touches deeply on sentiments and ideas that people share. The poetry provides incredible introspection and poses questions on diverse topics. For example, a poem on ‘Sati’ is anchored on the notion of remembering the forgotten, breathing life into innocent voices lost in the cacophony of unjust societal norms and expectations.”

Satya says that the poems offer readers and listeners more than mere cultural analysis-moving into space where all the senses are invoked to examine the past, reconcile memories, and bring significance to the insignificant.

“Life teaches us lessons when we pay attention to the tiny things,” states Satya by adding, “The smaller things tie the world together.”

The event was followed by a poetry reading session by author Satya Palaparty.
