The 12th national multi-lingual drama festival ‘Abhinaya National Theatre Festival-2017’ has started at Ravindra Bharati recently. The three-day festival was inaugurated by KV Ramana Chary, Adviser for Government of Telangana.

The 12th national multi-lingual drama festival ‘Abhinaya National Theatre Festival-2017’ has started at Ravindra Bharati recently. The three-day festival was inaugurated by KV Ramana Chary, Adviser for Government of Telangana.

The multi-lingual festival is organised by Department of Language and Culture, Telangana Government along with North East Zone Cultural Centre. As a part of it, three-plays include ‘Meeraite EmChestaru’ (Telugu), ‘Kamala Kunwarir Sadhu’ (Assam) and ‘BootuBandookugalaNaduve’ (Kannada) is being staged.

On day-1, the play ‘Meeraite Emchestaru’ was staged. Written by legendary director K Viswanath and directed by Gedda Vara Prasadh, the play revolves around how people are cheated by political leaders.

The play was about two leaders, Veeraju and Venkanna, who wants to become the next sarpanch of a village. They use money, power and many ways to attract the people. The play is a perfect example of how current politics are run only through money and cast issues.

It also explored how political leaders cheating common people by giving false promises and forgetting about them after the elections.
