Author Aditi Mukherjee unveiled her third book ‘Love In Times of Terror’ at Lamakaan recently. The book is contemporary love story between two individuals from different communities and religions.

Set in the backdrop of a critical and turbulent period of the post-independence history of India that axed the peaceful co-existence of Hindus and Muslims and set the political stage in India for the next two decades, this fast-paced romantic thriller traverses through a period of fifteen years including the Babri Masjid demolition, 1993 Bombay riots and finally the 2008 Mumbai Taj attack the 9/11 of India.

“I spent two and a half years writing this book. When I went to Mumbai, I met people who suffered in the terror attacks. It’s not just a love story but it is also about the terrifying event which happened in our past,” says Aditi Mukherjee.

“I am romantic and I believe that love solves every problem you could argue which is not for love. Love always permits dissimilar people to come together. The book addresses the ignorance, prejudices, mutual distrust and yet a borderline co-existence between religious communities, politely and optimistically termed—harmony,” she adds.

“I don’t write a book until and unless I have any personal experience to relate to. I think we are technically very aware of what is happening in the country. In fact, the book is set up in very politically challenging times.”
