In an attempt to create awareness on eye donation, NGO, Saksham Telangana and NPCB along with Government of Telangana will be organising a blindfold 2k walk ‘Sight-A-Thon 2017 (Stride for Sight) at 7.30am at Necklace Roads on September 3.

In an attempt to create awareness on eye donation, NGO, Saksham Telangana and NPCB along with Government of Telangana will be organising a blindfold 2k walk ‘Sight-A-Thon 2017 (Stride for Sight) at 7.30am at Necklace Roads on September 3.

Union Labour and Employment Minister Bandaru Dattatreya and Council Chairman Swamy Goud will be the chief guests for the walk. President of Saksham and Ortho Surgeon Dr Ved Prakash, Secretary N Karunakar, released a poster during a press conference at Banjara Hills.

Ved Prakash said many are suffering with blindness right from the birth or because of problems with the cornea. He said that eye donation is the only way left to give eye sight to these visually challenged people.

Santosh Kraleti said that around 700 visually challenged people, various voluntary organisations and school students would be taking part in the walk. The participants in the walk will be blindfolded and one person would guide five blindfolded members in the walk.

The walk will start from People’s Plaza to Necklace Road. MLA Chintala Ramachandra Reddy, film stars Lavanya Tripathi, Ali, Gazal Srinivas, Am Ratnam and others would also be a part of the walk. The walk is open for anyone to participate.
