Shilparamam on Saturday presented a dance recital by the students Madhuri, Sudha, Bhuvana, Hasini, Charvi and others of Samaya School of Bharatanatyam. They began with Pushpanjali in Natai Ragam, followed by a Mallari, which is associated with the Nadaswaram instrument played in temples during Deeparadhana and processions in Gambhira Natai.

Ganesh Stuthi was in Sri Ranjani. “Mathey” a Prayer to Goddess Durga, well executed by the talented students was a daruvarnam in khamas. The composer to this well-known rendition is Harikesanallar Bhagavathar. Alarippu was followed by students performing “mushika vahana” in ragamalika, an elegant and graceful jatiswaram in chakravakam and was applauded.

“muddugare yashoda" an Annamacharya keerthana in Kurinji that compares the beauty of Krishna to gemstones, the rare “shambho mahadeva” by Thyagaraja in Kaamavardhini and a lively thillana in Sindhubhairavi concluded the Saturday event.

Sunday witnessed Bharatanatyam recitals by Mythri Madyasta and Pavithra Kannan. Mythri started with a Ganesh stuthi by Papanasam Shivan in Sriranjani requesting the god's blessings. Ardhanareeshwara kruthi by Muthuswami deekshithar in Kumudakriya was brilliantly done by Mytri showcasing the beauty of Lord Shiva.

She also performed “raghuvamsha chandra” in Ramapriya by Mahesh Swamy that describes Sita waiting in the Ashoka vana for rescue by her lord. This was followed by a javali. The beautiful piece by shadakshari in surya has an abhisarika nayika who is thinking of her beloved and has forgotten the present world.

Pavithra, student of guru Minal Prabhu started with “gajavadana” requesting blessings from the auspicious one in sriranjani. She also performed “raja rajeswari" in Janaranjani describing the great deeds of the universal mother, a padam on Shiva, “natana manohara” in ragamalika praising the enchanting dancer who wears snakes as ornaments, a javali “saaramaina maatalentho” by Swathi Thirunal is in behag.

The Javali is about Lord Krishna who is enchantingly depicted as having large attractive eyes using which he lures women into his tricks, the heroine sends him away congratulating herself for being strong while sarcastically telling him that a lot of women were fated to keep on waiting for him. Pavithra performed Balamuralikrishna’s thillana in brindavani describing the sweet sound of Lord Krishna's flute.
