IconArt Gallery presents a solo exhibition of paintings titled ‘Stamped Identity’ by artist Niraja Bhuwal whose artworks are based on Indian stamp paintings which depict the cultural identity of ‘Mughal Empire’.

The paintings depict the history, culture, economic progress, the flora and fauna and architectural monuments. Niraja says, “I prefer to render them in a semi abstract format, to conceptualise it beyond the visual, towards a story, as an expressive narrative of what we hold most precious, as symbols that unite us as nation.”

“I want everyone to see the postal stamp in a new medium. I worked with acrylic on canvas and natural objects and symbols I have grown up with. According to me, when the mind of the artist searches for the things, with these he finds the form of the object. After this, the form has its own meaning and creation,” she adds.

“In my work, I tried to create the contemporary form in what is called the abstract art. I also tried to give it a new form. I want my paintings to be impressive,” she explains.
