The Indian Photo Festival 2017 was inaugurated by Azmeera Chandulal, minister for tourism and culture at the Telangana State Art Gallery. Delivering the keynote address renowned photographer Reza Deghati called for the need to use the camera as a tool of storytelling.

Having worked in many war zone and conflict zone areas, Reza felt that photography could bring out the humanitarian situation and plight of humans around the world which could in turn help in restoring their respect and identity.

This festival is displaying works of nearly 525 photographers from around 40 countries. Photographs are also being displayed in public spaces like near KBR Park and Chikadpally Bridge. Workshops and portfolio reviews that can help young photographers in honing their skills have been arranged.

A photo marathon and Portrait award have also been instituted to encourage new talent. Goethe Zentrum, Shrishti Art Gallery, Inorbit Mall, Phoenix Arena, Samanyashtram Gallery, IIT Hyderabad, Seventy8, Deja Brew Art Café, Peoples Plaza and Shilparamam are some of the important venue partners where the activities are being conducted.
