ASCI chief's clarion call to 'text' generation

The ASCI community celebrated the birthday of its chairman K Padmanabhaiah in the city on Friday.

After the cake cutting, he inspired the gathering with a speech in which he called upon the importance of words over thoughts.

“At a time when people of all ages are busy in producing loads of text (words) in mobile phones and mails to communicate their feelings and opinions with an unprecedented speed, the Chairman of the Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI), called upon people to be careful while composing words to ensure healthy social relations.

"Mind you, words are very important than thoughts. Thoughts may be vague or very clear but the words you choose to express them decide the quality of it. You are judged by your words more than the thoughts. Better think twice before you write or talk to your colleagues or officers," he said.

Padmanabhaiah called upon employees to accord priority to build up 'healthy, cordial relations' at workplace by staying away from groupism.

Stressing upon building friendly atmosphere at workplaces, Padmanabhaiah, said, "I continued dialogue process with Naga rebels for 12 years. Some people thought it was a crazy idea but thanks to this relentless exercise we could bring in some peace. Talking across the table is always better than fighting."

He congratulated ASCI faculty for coming up with an excellent work all these years. "The College for practicing managers since 1956, ASCI's contribution in national building is immense. We have the potential to be one of the greatest institutions in the world," he said.

ASCI's Registrar Kalyan K Roy, Dean of Training Programmes (DoTP) Prof Valli Manikam, Dean of Research Studies (DoRS) Prof Nirmalya Bagchi, ASCI Employees Union President Sreeramulu and Secretary Hassan felicitated Padmanabhaiah on this occasion.
