Seethaphalmandi: Ongoing works of repairing a broken pipe here have left residents with loss of drinking water.

Two days after receiving complaints from residents of colonies in Seethaphalmandi regarding irregular supply of water in the nearby areas, HMWSSB officials identified a broken drinking water pipeline near the flyover en route to Secunderabad.

An old pipe of 250mm dimension succumbed to rust and was found with holes in it. The work inspector hired on a contract basis informed that it would take a minimum of a day or two to restore the pipeline and valves at the two ends of the road.

However, it has been over four days the work is still incomplete. Moreover, roads have been closed temporarily to allow the repair works making for inconvenience for commuters.

Kumar, a resident said, “We didn’t exactly know what the problem was. The water supply to our house became erratic and it seemed that many residences in the nearby localities were facing the same issue. But now that the department staff are here, we hope the problem would end soon.”
