Hyderabad: Many areas near Darushifa will get clean and potable drinking water soon, if the Balshetti Khet reservoir works are completed in the stipulated time. The project, which started in August 2016, was scheduled to be completed so far, however technical reasons halted its progress.
Although Water Board officials and local political representatives visited the work site, it may take a month or two before the reservoir could start functioning. On his recent inspection, the Water Board managing director M Dana Kishore instructed the officials to finish the remaining work by the end of the month.
It is to be noted that reservoir works were completed much earlier, but the pipeline could not be laid in time.
This project will serve the areas of Noorkhan Bazaar, Dabeerpura, Rao Ramba Devdi, Komatiwada, and other adjacent places of Balshetti Khet. These areas used to get water from Mir Alam tank, but due to low pressure, the drinking water supply has been disturbed for many years.
Following the continuous complaints from a larger area, water board has decided to come up with this project, which was undertaken at Rs 4 crore. Colonies around Balshetti Khet are upper areas and Water Board officials are facing difficulties in supplying drinking water there.
Local people also expecting the drinking water supply to start from the new reservoir.
Earlier this month, MIM chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi informed that he had requested the Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao to inaugurate the reservoir in the Old City in the first week of January next year.
