,Chanchalguda: The road that goes from the Chanchalguda Jail towards Saidabad is slowly becoming a booming area for vendors.

While the stretch is abuzz with toy sellers, fruit vendors, and stationery marketers during the week, the road turns to a zone selling fish over the weekends. Many fish vendors install their makeshift stalls on this 2km stretch. While the wide road provides an opportunity to the vendors to carry out their business without interrupting the flow of traffic. However, a few vendors resort to encroachment by parking their vehicles on the road and/or storing the material on it.

Speaking to the CityLife, a fruit vendor here Rauf Khan said that he has been operating his business on the stretch for the past five months. Barring a few altercations with the traffic police, he said that the business is “fairly” good most of the times.

“The traffic police do not bother us if we keep the pushcarts on the footpath. The problem comes only if anyone installs it on the road,” he said.

Another vendor, Mohan, who sells toys on the road, said that he shifts his pushcart on the footpath during peak traffic hours.

He said that earlier only a few vendors were there, but now the number slowly increased, especially in the past two-three years.

“I fear that the traffic police may shift all of us if the number continues to grow here,” he added.
